I have been out of the loop for a bit because I am trying to set up an organization in my town, St Augustine, for the preservation of an historic cemetery, Tolomato Cemetery, originally an Indian mission that was part of Spanish St Augustine.
Looking through my e-mails, however, I found something I wanted to tell you about: a Spanish belenista with Arizona connections who is going to transform the Nativity Scene world in Arizona this year.
Alberto Laviñeta and his wife live in Pamplona and their son is an airline pilot who lives in Phoenix, AZ. This year, they are bringing him an authentic Spanish belén, built by them.
They use figures by Mayo and figures from Olot. Below is the Mayo Nacimiento from last year.
And here is another photo from last year’s belén. Look at the beautiful detail.
I haven’t seen the completed project yet, but I think it’s going to be great. Arizona is very fortunate!
bellissimo

Just want to say thank you for sharing your information on belenes. I have read through other sites for belenistas (belenmontealto.com, which is currently down). Oh no! Anyway, I will continue to visit your blog for more info, since it's almost that time of the year again. Thank you again for all the beautiful pictures and information. :-)
