I hope all of our dedicated belenistas were able to hear Cristobal Jiménez' interview on RK20 with José Herrero today. José Herrero was on the air together with José Manuel Espina of the Asociación de Belenistas de Hoyo de Manzanares. I wrote a little bit about him a couple of weeks ago, but I intend to call him and give you all more information about him next week.
José gave a wonderful interview, discussing the differences between the US and Spanish Nativity Scene traditions and telling listeners about some of the things that encouraged him and ultimately shaped him in the world of belenismo – where he began with some Chinese plastic figures from Sears when his kids were young and he lived in Washington, D.C. Now he has moved on to Mayo…
In any case, in honor of José’s interview, I am posting the entire set of photos of his truly wonderful Nebraska belén. And if you want to hear the interview, check out Foro de Belenismo en Internet. Go to the section “Programa de Radio Camino de Belen,” and you will be able to download this and earlier programs. During this non-Christmas season, the program is on the air on the last Thursday of every month at 1:00 p.m. EST, and is rebroadcast on the following Saturday.
In the meantime, enjoy the album at left. And many thanks to Cristobal Jiménez and José Herrero for this great view of the experience of a Spanish belenista in his adopted land – and what he is bringing to it!
